Key Trends Shaping the Skies
Across two days and ten thematic tracks, several dominant themes emerged—reflecting both in our discussions at the booth and in the executive sessions:
AI Across the Ecosystem
Airlines, airports, and OEMs are accelerating AI adoption—across crew planning, baggage handling, predictive maintenance, and passenger experience. The conversations are shifting from “why AI” to “how fast can we scale it.”
Personalization as Differentiator
Creating hyper-personalized passenger experiences—across retail, entertainment, and loyalty—is fast becoming the battleground for customer loyalty.
Ancillary Optimization & Retail Convergence
Airlines are adopting e-commerce models to boost ancillary revenues—through smarter bundling, better payment experiences, and loyalty-driven storefronts.
Airport Modernization with Edge & AI
Airports are reimagining infrastructure without building more walls—using digital twins, remote passenger processing, and AI-led queue optimization to unlock new capacity.
Innova’s Aviation Innovation Showcase
At Booth #606, our team engaged with airline and airport leaders eager to modernize systems and elevate the passenger journey. Key areas of interest included:
- Independent Data Platform for orchestrating real-time, consumer-centric experiences
- Passenger Service System Modernization to replace fragmented legacy architectures
- Smart Technical Operations powered by AI, IoT, and Blockchain to reimagine MRO supply chains
- Ancillary Optimization through intelligent bundling and airline retail transformation
Interestingly, many booth queries came from airport leaders seeking to apply GenAI and QA to passenger flow prediction, digital queue management, and customer experience assurance. These conversations were expertly handled by Ankur Chakraborty, Sr. Director, Client Partner, who led our booth engagements and helped surface real-world airport modernization challenges and solution opportunities.
Leading the Conversation: Innova in Action
Our leadership actively contributed to the event’s knowledge agenda:
- Executive Roundtable with SITA: I had the opportunity to engage in a dynamic dialogue with SITA’s senior leadership—Shawn Gregor (President, SITA Americas), Carlos Kaduoka (COO, Americas, SITA), and Augusto Santos (VP LAC, SITA)—on modernizing legacy platforms both over the wings (PSS, Flight Ops) and below the wings (Tech Ops). Shawn noted that while strides have been made in modernizing flight operations and passenger systems, Tech Ops remains under-digitized due to regulatory complexity and lack of reliable modular solutions. Carlos emphasized that airport modernization must happen without adding physical infrastructure, leveraging AI, remote processing, and digital twins to expand capacity. Augusto added that airports are increasingly being seen not just as transit points but as experience-driven destinations, with AI playing a major role in queue management, sustainability, and stakeholder coordination across the travel ecosystem.
A shared insight: modernization demands trusted, flexible partnerships that go beyond fragmented implementations.
- Panel on Maximizing Ancillary Revenue–From Baggage Fees to In-Flight Sales: Pradipta Kanjilal, Vice President, Client Partner, joined fellow industry leaders to explore new approaches to ancillary monetization—ranging from unbundled services and dynamic pricing to optimizing in-flight sales and loyalty-driven upgrades.
- Panel on Airline Retail: Sachin Jain, our Sr. Director–Technology, delivered a powerful session on “Narrowing the Traditional Gap in Airline Retail by Adopting E-commerce Strategies.” He outlined how airlines can blend dynamic pricing, loyalty integration, and in-flight commerce to redefine how passengers engage and shop while traveling.
A Clear Flight Path Ahead
What stood out most this year was the aviation industry’s urgency—not just to digitize—but to personalize, monetize, and optimize every step of the passenger and operational journey.
From AI-powered data analytics for predictive maintenance to redefining retail in the skies, the road ahead is both complex and full of opportunity. At Innova, we remain committed to being a trusted transformation partner to airlines and airports navigating this shift.
Our thanks to the organizers and all those who visited us at the event. Let’s continue co-creating the future of flight.
