Client Background
Our client is an energy company, tracking oil product pricing across the fuel supply chain, utilizing data from the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).
Client Need
The client lacked access to crucial EIA and FERC data within their application, hindering data-driven decision-making. Key challenges included:
Absence of EIA and FERC data within the client application, limiting data-driven optimization of power plants and data aggregation
Necessity to collect and display relevant EIA and FERC data on web pages within the application
Requirement for a platform to add and edit power data for presentation to end-users
Solution
We implemented web page development and data integration. This included:
EIA Data Integration: Provided an automated process to load and display EIA data in the client application with editing capabilities
Power Plant Data Optimization: Improved performance for power plant data using SQL optimization techniques
FERC Data Automation: Automated the FERC data load process to reduce manual effort
Data Manager Web Pages: Created web pages within the data manager for data addition, display, statistics, and analysis
Power Plant Data Aggregation: Enabled automated aggregation of power plant point data at frequent intervals
Realized Benefits
Added new functionalities and facilities along with the new web pages
Improved performance and efficiency of the application through optimization of existing pages and database objects
Enabled quick data updates through performance optimization of stored procedures
