Client Background

The client is an energy company that tracks current and historical pricing for oil products across the entire fuel supply chain and data sources are from U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).

Client Need

Previously there was no EIA and FERC data in the client application, hence no way to make data-driven decisions to optimize power plants and points data aggregation process. The client needed the following:
Collect relevant EIA and FERC data and display the data on web pages in the application.
A platforms where they can add and edit the power data and later on present to the end-users.

Solution

Provided an automation process to load and display EIA data in the client application along with edit feature.
Used various SQL optimations techniques and improved the performance for power plants data.
Automated FERC data load process to reduce manual effort.
Created web pages over data manager that can help them to add relevant data and display the data, statistics, and analysis meaningfully.
Enabled auto aggregation of power plant point data for every few minutes.
