Innova’s experts developed a system that extracts patient demographic and clinical information from a centralized data collection system, enabling the creation of medical specialty-based cohorts for earlier surgical procedures. Key components of this solution:
Utilized HL7 FHIR resources (Patient, Practitioner, Encounter, Diagnostic Report, Medication, Observation, and Episode of Care) to facilitate data exchange between different systems
Implemented HBase to maintain a complete history of resources, ensuring that clinicians and researchers have access to the most up-to-date and relevant information
Integrated Elastic Search to provide powerful search capabilities across FHIR resources, allowing users to access information quickly
Created a role-based authentication and authorization system to ensure only authorized personnel can access sensitive cohort information
